This morning the moment we’ve all been waiting for finally arrived, and I have to say straight out of the gate that I absolutely loved it, and having Ewan McGregor back is really special. Getting into the episodes, I would have liked more sad Kenobi, but what we got hit hard so I’m pleased, and I think we’ll gradually get more throughout the series. Ben has restricted his use of the force in order to hide and fulfil his duty and see him fighting his urge to help repeatedly. We see him try to commune with Qui-Gon several times but he is unlikely to succeed in his present state not fully connected to the force and he strains to save Leia, as if using a muscle he has long neglected. But perhaps as the series progresses and he uses the force more, reconnecting, he will eventually see his old master. I saw several people (including Star Wars Sessions) suggesting that Leia being in danger would be what got him to leave Tatooine and Luke, but I have to admit I did not think this would happen,...

It’s a little over a week and a half since the final episode of The Book Of Boba Fett and there has been a lot of varied opinions in that time, so I’ll try to keep my review fairly short. As I let the series sit with me, the more I have looked back on it as a really enjoyable experience.   I really appreciated that this was a smaller story (for the most part) that didn’t play into the greater state of the galaxy, and focused on Boba Fett and his motivations. I enjoyed the structure of the show with the bacta tank flashbacks being one of the strongest elements for me, especially Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine where Boba learns the value of having a tribe and we got great insight into the culture of the Tuskens. There was of course a lot of critique of the Mods (and the chase), but after getting used to the idea of them they really grew on me.  What seems to have really got people talking were the two ‘non Boba’ episodes, personally I really enjoyed ‘The Return of the Mandalo...

I have to admit I wasn’t the most excited for The Book of Boba Fett initially, despite considering myself a Fett fan, but as time went by and more and more teasers were released over the last month or so, my hype for this show had increased dramatically. So I was eager to get stuck in when it dropped at 8am in the UK, and I wasn’t disappointed. Starting with Boba in the bacta tank having dreams of his past was a great way to begin, seeing flashes of Kamino and Geonosis before diving into the big question of how he got out of the Sarlacc. It is unclear how much time has passed when he awakes in the stomach of the Return of the Jedi monster, from the lack of smoke from the wreckage of Jabba’s sail barge it must be a few days at least, but really could be much longer. Back in the present, Boba & Fennec receive tributes from the citizens and criminals of Mos Espa, and I loved hearing Matt Berry voicing the droid. Now that the dust has settled after Disney+ Day earlier in November I thought I’d write about my thoughts on the forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Whilst it was a disappointing day for Star Wars fans, if the Special Look hadn’t leaked the day before, I would have been pretty happy.   But I do wonder why there couldn’t have been a short 10 second tease or a poster of Ewan McGregor back in the robes, the fandom would have exploded and I would have been very satisfied. Could the reason be that Kenobi’s outfit would itself would have been a spoiler? Could Obi-Wan Kenobi’s appearance in the new show be based off of the often depicted Mythos Kenobi, drawn by fan artists for years and made physical by sideshow collectibles, which features Obi-Wan bundled against the dust storms of Tatooine with goggles, a rifle and his old clone wars armor strapped to a backpack. Hello there! After a month off from the blog, the release of the first The Book Of Boba Fett trailer has brought me back. When this series was announced at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2, I wasn’t particularly hyped for it, and felt it overshadowed the Mandalorian somewhat, and that despite the fact I’ve always been a fan of Boba, I own Fett artwork, figures and clothing! The trailer looks very cool, very Tatooine and  Jabba’s  Boba’s Palace centric, and jam packed with Original Trilogy and Return of the Jedi aliens, from Gamorrean Guards, to Twi’leks, Tuskens, Trandoshans and my favorite species of all - an Ithorian with a speaking role!!! Which makes this nerd wonder if his boy Max Rebo could make an appearance, every crimelord needs entertaining right?! There are some great visuals, the Tusken’s walking through the sandstorm, the huge sunken city both stuck in my mind.
