March 2021 Star Wars News Roundup

Kathleen Kennedy to head Lucasfilm for foreseeable future In a Disney Shareholder call Bob Chapek confirmed that Kathleen Kennedy would continue to lead Lucasfilm saying: "We've been absolutely thrilled that we can have the creative talent in our company the likes of Kathleen Kennedy. We look forward to having Kathleen directing Lucasfilm activities for years to come."   On-Screen News Two days ago Star Wars official accounts released the cast list for the forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi DisneyPlus limited series which is due to start filming in April. Into The Dark Book Review [SPOILERS]

  This was the second High Republic novel for me, and Claudia Gray is my favorite Star Wars author so there was a bit of pressure for me. Into the Dark is a Young Adult novel, but we know from Lost Stars that is no problem. I loved this entry into the High Republic story but I don’t think it quite cracks my Claudia Gray top 3. Claudia Gray’s biggest strength is getting inside characters heads, and each of her previous books has really focused on one or two characters, but Into the Dark is far more of an ensemble, and I did miss that laser focus a little. However I really liked all of the characters in this book and they all get plenty of development, Reath, our main protagonist I really connected with. He is a bookish and studious padawan, who prefers to read about adventure rather than experience it and I found it interesting that he was described as not having as strong a connection to the force but making up for it with hard work and knowledge. High Republic #3 & High Republic Adventures #1 Review

Leoni   Issue three of Cavan Scott’s High Republic picks right up where the previous issue left off both in terms of tension and the Horror atmosphere. Sskeer continues to be unbalanced by his trauma treating Terec with aggression and a lack of empathy, failing to sense that it is the dark side that has infected him, which later must be why the afflicted Terec is able to infect him, with Drengir spores. We see the first instance of the newly appointed Marshal of Starlight Beacon, Avar Kriss, being at odds with the Jedi Order’s structure, when she is less than pleased that Maru has contacted the council about the dead Hutt, it will be interesting to see this develop. Does she have doubts about the Jedi Council or a more personal problem with Maru? The vines in the underground tunnels on Sedri Minor are very reminiscent of Horror Sci-fi like Stranger Things or Day of the Triffids, which is appropriate as now w
