The Lightsaber Collection Book Review

Image
I got this book for Christmas but because of all the High Republic content I’ve only just got around to reading it. I’ve been a lot more into lightsabers and their design since my visit to Galaxy’s Edge last year, and this is a beautifully put together book, the artwork and layouts are great, each character’s lightsaber is given a double page spread, with one whole page devoted to a close up of the saber hilt. Some even get treated to a fold out page, for example the Skywalker Lightsaber, which gets more information and images of how it has changed over the years. It did strike me that it might have been cool to write this book as an in-universe guide, but then you would miss out on the interesting behind-the-scenes information and anecdotes. I would have liked concept sketches, cutaways or information on how they were made, in the introductory pages we do get some concept sketches for Ahsoka Tano’s lightsabers and more of that would have been great. All the obvious lightsabers are fea

Marvel High Republic Issues 1 & 2 Review

Image
Welcome to my look at the Marvel High Republic comic so far, I decided to review issues 1 & 2 together so I would have a bit more to go on. In Issue One we meet Padawan Keeve Trennis along with her master Sskeer who we have already met in Light of the Jedi. Keeve & Sskeer have gone to the planet Shuraden to carry out her trails, and the story takes place after the battle of Kur in LotJ, just before the opening ceremony of starlight beacon. We get a lot more Sskeer, which is something I’d wanted since being introduced to him in LotJ, who is stoic and gruff but not in a mean way. Avar Kriss is concerned about him following Jora Malli’s death, and the ending with Sskeer screaming into the darkness seems to confirm his trauma is from Malli’s death although I did see a similarity to Elzar Mann’s vision of doom at the end of LotJ. This issue is very much an intro to Keeve Trennis, and she comes across as competent and confident without being cocky and she clearly respects Sskeer gr

My Top 31 Star Wars Characters

Image
For the month of January I have been counting down my top 31 favourite Star Wars characters on Twitter daily, as well as on Instagram stories  (@thelimeyprintmaker) where I added a song each day.  This list represents a moment in time, if you asked me to make another top 31 again now, it would almost certainly be different, for starters I totally forgot Hondo Ohnaka and he should have been on this list!   31 - CARSON TEVA The first entry as I count down my top 31 SW characters is the New Republic pilot we met in s2 of the Mandalorian. Of course it helps that Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is such a huge fan and cool dude, I hope we get more Carson.   Song: The Joker - Steve Miller Band 30 - CHIRRUT IMWE It was fascinating to see a non-jedi force believer on screen, and he is responsible for one of my favorite quotes in all SW. I’d love to see him show up in animation. Song: As Serious As Your Life - Four Tet 29 - CAL KESTIS I didn’t get to play Jedi: Fallen Order until this autumn, a great story w
