The Monster of Temple Peak #1 Review [SPOILERS!]

Image
IDW Star Wars The High Republic Adventures: The Monster Of Temple Peak #1 Written By Cavan Scott Art By Rachel Stott, Vita Efremova, Nicola Righi I was excited to get my hands on this new limited run comic from Cavan Scott, set before the events of The Rising Storm, the central character is Ty Yorrick, Saber-For-Hire. Ty was one of favorite new characters from wave two of the books so the chance to get to know her better was something I was really looking forward to, and Cavan did not disappoint. She has been hired to capture a prize Gundark, but her old training comes out when it threatens an alien child and she kills it, although she is now a mercenary, Ty still retains her Jedi instinct to protect. There are also flashbacks to her days as a padawan in the order, her cocky friend Klias Teradine leading her astray, and we meet her teacher Master Cibaba. She takes another job, from a group of settlers on the planet Loreth whose livestock have been attacked by a Gretalax. The client, La

The Bad Batch Season One Review

Image
So the first season of The Bad Batch is over, my expectations weren’t the highest, I hadn’t really got attached to Clone Force 99 in the seventh season of The Clone Wars and found them very one dimensional. But as we got the trailers for the show my excitement had gradually crept up, and it’s fair to say the show exceeded my initial expectations. The first few episodes of the season did a lot to give the Batchers more character, expanding them from one note cartoon characters entirely based off their one trait to feel more fully formed, I really took to Tech and Wrecker, as I’m sure most did, as they often provide the comic relief. But I was disappointed with a lack of further development of most of the central characters during the series, Wrecker and Tech don’t seem to develop anymore in the circumstances they find themselves in, and Echo barely exists most of the time. Hunter does develop a bit in his role as father figure to Omega, mostly learning the same lessons over and over. Cr

Race To Crashpoint Tower Review [SPOILERS!]

Image
Race To Crashpoint Tower by Daniel José Older (Disney Lucasfilm Press) Race to Crashpoint Tower is the second junior novel in the High Republic era, and comes from Daniel José Older, writer of the High Republic Adventures comic series. The story is set at the same time as The Rising Storm and also on Valo at the Galactic Fair, making it a story within a story almost. In The Rising Storm we briefly meet Ram Jomaram when Ty Yorrick and Mantessa are in jail and the Nihil attack starts, here we find out why Ram was also in the cells and what happens to him afterwards, with the scene mirrored and told from his perspective in this book. Ram Jomaram is a padawan assigned to the Jedi outpost on Valo, and he reminds me of Reath Silas a little, but where Reath doesn’t like adventure and prefers to be in the library, Ram finds social interactions difficult and likes fiddling with mechanics and his droid V-18, this makes him very likeable and relatable to introverts and people on the spectrum alik
