Star Wars News Round Up: September 2021
The month’s news kicked off with a trailer for the Disney+ Lego holiday special ‘Terrifying Tales’, which will air on 1st October, view the trailer here. I’m looking forward to Terrifying Tales, Lego animation always delivers something fun and the trailer promises stories involving the Knights of Ren, Nightsisters and a ‘What If Luke joined the Empire’.
PS5 Knights of the Old Republic Remake Announced
The internet blew up on 9th September when a Knights of the Old Republic remake for the PS5 was revealed at PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a reveal trailer. The KOTOR remake will be a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 5 before coming to other platforms including PC, and be developed by Aspyr (Call of Duty, Borderlands). Knights of the Old Republic is legendary among Star Wars fans, but is a game I missed out on so I’m excited to play an updated version with modern graphics and get to grips with Revan. Now I just need to save up for a PS5!
Star Wars Hunters Trailer
A cinematic trailer for the Nintendo Switch and mobile game Hunters was released this month. Hunters is due for release in 2022 and is a team-based arena combat game, it is free-to-play but it’s unclear how heavily it will rely on microtransactions. The trailer introduces the characters who certainly look fun, Zaina a Rebel fighter with prosthetic legs, Utooni a pair of Jawas stacked on each other, and J-3DI a droid programmed to believe it is a Jedi, all caught my eye.
Lawrence Kasdan to direct George Lucas Doc
It was revealed by composer James Newton Howard on Score: The Podcast, and reported by Collider, that Lawrence Kasdan is to direct a 6 part documentary series about George Lucas and the effects company he founded, Industrial Light and Magic. Not much else is yet known about the project but not much else is needed to get me excited for this series!
The Book of Boba Fett Release Date Confirmed
It was revealed yesterday (29th Sept) that The Book of Boba Fett will begin streaming Wednesday December 29th 2021 on Disney+, the announcement came along with a poster (above) and a brief synopsis on starwars.com
While the poster and synopsis don’t tell us much more than we already knew, it does serve to build hype for the show, and a teaser trailer can’t be too far away with less than 3 months to go.
