Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales Announced


On 3rd August the Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales special was announced, coming to Disney+ on 1st October in time for the Halloween season. The description on Star Wars dot com - here - outlines the plot as Poe & BB-8 being forced to land on Mustafar, where they meet a Hutt turning Vader’s Castle into a Sith themed hotel. The premise sounds hilarious and I really enjoyed the Lego Holiday Special that came out last year, Lego always delivers fun Star Wars.


Galactic Starcruiser Prices & Trailer Revealed 



A new trailer and prices and sample itinerary for the Galactic Starcruiser hotel at Walt DisneyWorld, Florida were released on 4th August to much outcry from the internet over the expense. Whilst the prices are steep, they are about what I was expecting, and to be honest not that much more than some of the more expensive hotels on property. Whilst I don’t expect to ever be able to afford to go, if I could I would go in a shot, the sample itinerary showed the activities you can take part in if you want, with chance encounters with characters leading to missions in secret areas of the ship or affecting your time in Galaxy’s Edge. I’d love to play sabacc in the bar with an Twi’lek!



3rd Wave of Del Rey’s Essential Legends Leaked



The 3rd publishing wave of books in Del Rey’s Essential Legends series was leaked on Reddit, and is set to include the third installment of Drew Karpyshyn’s Bane trilogy, Wedge’s Gamble from Michael Stackpole’s X-Wing series, Kenobi by John Jackson Miller and Darth Plagueis by James Luceno. These releases could see my first foray into this series as I love the Kenobi and Plagueis books and can’t wait to see the cover art that has graced these Del Rey releases.


Visions Trailer Unveiled



On 17th August the full trailer was released for Star Wars: Visions (view it here) along with the full voice casts for both the Japanese and English dub versions. There are some big names in the English dub cast (Deadline) including Lucy Liu, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Temuera Morrison, Neil Patrick Harris, Christopher Sean, Simu Liu, David Harbour and George Takei. It’s fair to say I’m very hyped for Visions, especially after this trailer, I already love the variety of visuals and I’ll be sure to watch all nine stories in both versions on the day of release!



Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga Gameplay Trailer Drops



At the end of the month we finally got an update on the Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga game with a gameplay trailer revealed at Gamescom 2021. The trailer revealed the release date would be in spring 2022, dashing our faint hopes to play this game before Christmas. The game looks like a ton of fun, promising to let us play through the movies in any order, locations from all nine saga installments and hundreds of playable characters. As Obi-Wan would say “Patience”.

The Book Of Boba Fett Trailer Review

Hello there! After a month off from the blog, the release of the first The Book Of Boba Fett trailer has brought me back. When this series was announced at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2, I wasn’t particularly hyped for it, and felt it overshadowed the Mandalorian somewhat, and that despite the fact I’ve always been a fan of Boba, I own Fett artwork, figures and clothing! The trailer looks very cool, very Tatooine and  Jabba’s  Boba’s Palace centric, and jam packed with Original Trilogy and Return of the Jedi aliens, from Gamorrean Guards, to Twi’leks, Tuskens, Trandoshans and my favorite species of all - an Ithorian with a speaking role!!! Which makes this nerd wonder if his boy Max Rebo could make an appearance, every crimelord needs entertaining right?! There are some great visuals, the Tusken’s walking through the sandstorm, the huge sunken city both stuck in my mind. Into The Dark Book Review [SPOILERS]

  This was the second High Republic novel for me, and Claudia Gray is my favorite Star Wars author so there was a bit of pressure for me. Into the Dark is a Young Adult novel, but we know from Lost Stars that is no problem. I loved this entry into the High Republic story but I don’t think it quite cracks my Claudia Gray top 3. Claudia Gray’s biggest strength is getting inside characters heads, and each of her previous books has really focused on one or two characters, but Into the Dark is far more of an ensemble, and I did miss that laser focus a little. However I really liked all of the characters in this book and they all get plenty of development, Reath, our main protagonist I really connected with. He is a bookish and studious padawan, who prefers to read about adventure rather than experience it and I found it interesting that he was described as not having as strong a connection to the force but making up for it with hard work and knowledge. Shadow of the Sith Review [SPOILERS]

Shadow of the Sith is one of the most anticipated Star Wars books of recent years, with a lot of pressure put upon it by many to explain events in the sequel trilogy. So did it live up to expectations? For me it does, not that I expected it to explain everything - we have plenty of time to explore and fill in the intervening years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Let’s not forget that it took    9 years for us to learn why the Clones turned on the Jedi so easily (season 6 of the Clone Wars in 2014). There are two main threads to the story, Lando trying to save Rey’s family from Ochi of Bestoon and Luke’s discovery of a mysterious dark side user. The book is littered with connections to all parts of Star Wars canon, the Acolytes of Beyond first mentioned in the Aftermath trilogy play an important part, Luke goes to Tython which we saw in the Mandalorian, a young Enric Pryde (TROS) makes an appearance as does Shriv Suurgav who first appeared in Battlefront II.
